I just love mini skeins, but I don’t love winding them entirely by hand or using a big yarn ball winder (overkill). I bought a nostepinne last year to help. It works really great for giving you that extra space in the middle of a ball/cake (without being too big), and an extra “finger” for moving the yarn around as you wind it.
Last year I bought a couple of yarn advent calendars with 20g minis. I’ve been letting them marinate while I focused on other projects.
The week before Labor Day, CC asked me when I was going to start them. Or at least one of them. I’d been thinking about that myself very recently.
After seeing Kayla Litton’s (CrazySockLady) recent work/finish on a Trifle Wrap, I decided that was the project I wanted to do with one of them. I had to wait for some mohair/silk lace yarn to come in the mail, though, because I wanted to knit mine combined with that.
So over this Labor Day weekend, I started it! I also started two other knitting projects, but we’ll talk about those later.
Today I finished the first section, and wound the yarn for the next section. I’m not sure if you can see it, but the variegated yarn has a tiny bit of gold sparkle in it. It gets a little lost with all of the floof from the mohair, but it’s there, and it catches the light occasionally.
