I put the buttons on Sammal today, and finished weaving in the ends, so it is finally finished! I had finished the knitting almost a week ago, but had put off adding the buttons until I had time and light to do it.
I can’t wait for Mom to see and be able to wear her new sweater. It’s supposed to be knit with very little ease, and I’m a little larger than my mom, so it has a little negative ease on me, I think – the fabric that the stitch pattern creates is very stretchy, so even a little snug, it doesn’t look too bad on me, and I think it will be perfect on her.

I’m so happy to have finally finished this—it has been a journey! My thumb isn’t 100% yet, but it feels so much better.
One thing I determined as I was waiting for my thumb to heal, and testing it week by week to see if I could knit some without it hurting was that knitting with wool (and mostly wool blends) is a lot easier on my hands than knitting with acrylics. So I made the hard decision to donate my remaining acrylic yarn to the church ministry for which I’ve been knitting hats. I’m going to try knitting some with superwash wool yarn and see if that will work for charity hats. Also, I will slow down a bit on those to try to ensure that I don’t aggravate the issue with my thumb and hands again.
