God’s Blessings

This quilt was formerly known as my colorwash/sunshine and shadow/potato chip quilt. I took it with me to my friend Fran’s house in Georgia this past week and finished piecing the last few blocks, then put them up on the design wall.

My friend Reba immediately renamed it “God’s Blessings.” She insisted so it stayed. The dark areas appeared as crosses to her, and her sister also saw it, and they began talking about the darkness representing the cross where Jesus gave his life for us, and the light areas being the resurrection and our hope. Very fitting for this charity quilt, I think.

I bordered it in the same size strips that are used in the block, pieced end-to-end, all the lighter shades used in the blocks, and I really do like the way it turned out. It measures about 50.5 by 62.5 inches. I’m thinking of doing another pieced backing using pale/light colors of fat quarters. And it should have a scrappy border, obviously.

That’s one more WIP down, slowly but steadily!
