My Thursday morning quilting group has been participating, after a fashion, in some stash busting of particular colors this year. We’ve been using some of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2025 monthly colors, and I’ve helped them bust some blues, greens, and oranges.
I’ve had a bunch of 2½” strips sitting in one of my storage containers since I completed my Straits of Mackinac quilt. I used some of them in Old Town, but that still left a lot. I wish I’d taken a “before” photo, but I only have the “after.” They actually filled the entire left side of the top layer in this container, so with this quilt, I’ve reduced the amount by over half, woohoo!
The design I chose to make with them is from Villa Rosa Designs, and is called The Lady. I altered it slightly by removing one row at the top and one at the bottom to shorten it a little bit. I didn’t make the pattern exactly as it instructed, since many of my strips were not WOF (width of fabric), but it worked out quite well, I think. It measures 55 inches wide by 65 inches long.

This will be a donation to Wrap Them in Hugs quilting ministry. They do such great work blessing others, and I can’t begin to describe how happy I am to be a part of this group of wonderful ladies with such big, warm hearts.
I like!! A wonderful donation.
