A shawl of a certain color

Usually when I decide to knit a shawl, I don’t put much thought into the colors I choose other than “do I like it/them?”

Up until last year, the choice of color(s) really didn’t matter much – I wore them mostly in the winter, with jeans and a sweater or long sleeve shirt, and anything went, because I just layered up for warmth.

But now that I’ve made my set of skirts, which I wear year-round to church with a solid short- or long-sleeve top, I’m finding that my color choices do matter, and I have big gaps in availability of shawls that go with my skirts and shirts (and shawls are very handy when the air conditioning gets going).

So I dug into my stash, thinking I would use a Gynx Yarns single fingering that I’ve been hoarding – she’s no longer dyeing yarns, and it’s a pretty pink/rose and green variegated called “Flora”. But then I ran across this color (Plucky Knitter Primo Fingering in the color “Happy Glamper”), and knew it was even more perfect. I had originally wound it up for use in a different project, and ended up not using it there because it was too similar to another color in it.

I’ll probably still make some shawls using whatever colors I like, but I’ll also keep in mind those skirts so that I might make something to coordinate in the future too.
