I’ve stitched two strands of thread/floss over two threads of fabric, and I’ve stitched one over one, but I don’t recall ever having stitched just one over two. I was skeptical about how it would look, because I really like the look (coverage) of two over two. I’m pleasantly surprised!
I’m stitching this on 36-count fabric, which may also be a first for me, though I’ve used 18-count Aida before, which is the equivalent scale. I didn’t see the called-for fabric in stock at 123 Stitch, so I chose a piece of 36 Count Smoke Blue Edinburgh Linen to use. I think the light smoky gray/blue color will be a nice background for the floss colors and design. The color in the photo is not true, since I was taking it at night under artificial light, but it gives you an idea of it.
The designer is new-to-me and has an entire “Songbird’s Garden” series of 12 designs. I decided to try the cardinals first before getting any more, to see how I liked stitching it (I do like the other designs in the series).
I’m enjoying this stitch so far.
