This is the other planned shawl for which I got yarn at Bliss Yarns a couple of months ago. I wanted to finish at least one shawl/wrap project before starting it, and I did with the Guernsey Wrap in April.
So around the first of May, I started this shawl. It was a mystery shawl a few years ago that I didn’t participate in at the time. But having seen it finished, I put it on my “to-do” list for a future knit.
The construction is very textured, and very unique. It is constructed in six sections, and I believe most, if not all, of them involve using slipped stitches for high impact visual effect.

I chose hand-dyed tonal yarns for all of my colors. A navy blue as the main color to tie it all together, and in the first section, which uses two contrast colors, a light sand and medium gray-brown.
The first section starts out with a lot of stitches and each time you start a new honeycomb part, you’re decreasing stitches (as I said, very unique construction) until you have only one honeycomb left.
The third contrast color is introduced in the second section, and I chose a maroon color to coordinate. At this point, I had between 250-300 stitches on my needles, so the rows were not super quick to knit, but not super slow either.

With the second section finished, I started the third section where it begins by adding a lot of stitches. I’m at over 400 stitches on the needles now, and we’re just getting started!

I took a peek at how many stitches are expected near the end of the shawl (yeah, I didn’t read through the pattern at all before starting it, I just jumped in), and there will be over twice that many when it’s finished! So, another really long-term shawl project. Maybe the Playful shawl will be finished before this one, haha!
