The numbers for March were announced on February 26, and they are 10 and 24. What does that mean for my focus projects this month?
Cross Stitch and Needlework
I made really good progress on my February projects, I’m really close to a finish on Lighthouse, so WIPGO has worked well so far for it. I’m looking forward to both of my March projects.
First we have another Chatelaine design, Celtic Quilt. This design is similar to the Waterlily Pond Quilt that I stitched several years ago. I finished mine as a quilted wallhanging. I have only completed one block on Celtic quilt, so I’ll be starting the second block. They are deceptively involved, so I’ll be really surprised if I finish the second block in March.
The other project this month is the Mysterious Adventure Project (M.A.P.), a stitch-along by Ink Circles. This is a super fun project that is unique. No stitcher’s map is the same as any other stitcher’s map. You get to decide, based on the roll of your die and other choices how your map is going to be plotted out. I’m definitely looking forward to making some more progress on this one.
Knitting and Crochet
I was pleased again with February’s progress – I finished the Mojito shawl, and I made some good progress on the Stonecrop cardigan. This month I get to work on both knitting and crochet for WIPGO, so there will be some variety.
Affiknity is a cable-intensive pullover sweater that I started in January. I’ve just finished the back bottom ribbing, so I should be able to get into the cables this time around.
And I’ll finally pull out and work on the crochet doily this month. It has been languishing for years, and I’m hoping I remember how to read crochet charts!
Quilting
Well, this is where it kind of ran off the rails in February, but I’m okay with that because I was focused on other projects. I didn’t do any free motion quilting practice, and I abandoned the other project completely. That’s just part of the process.
I get a chance to redeem myself with another go at free-motion machine quilting practice. I did purchase some solid colored fabrics (so I can use contrasting thread and see my stitches), and I just need to cut a few pieces of batting so I can sandwich and get started.
The other focus project I get to spend some time with is my Blocks from the Past. This one has a nice variety of piecing and hand appliqué. I hope to get at least one appliqué block finished, and maybe another pieced block or two. I’m still working on finishing the Grassy Creek string pieced border blocks, so I’ll be focusing on that as well, plus I’ll begin walking-foot quilting on the Replicator Racing quilt as part of the quilting I’m teaching my friend Amy Beth.
