I hit a speed bump this past week when I took our little kitty Luke to have his teeth cleaned. They do a blood test first to ensure there isn’t anything going on that the anesthesia might exacerbate. He’s never had a blood test before, so we don’t know if this was an acute or a chronic issue, but his creatinine level was really high, so we went ahead and admitted him for acute care.
After two days of fluids, antibiotics, special food, and additional testing, we were able to bring him home Saturday. We’re continuing antibiotics and special food for a bit longer.
Because the other two can’t eat his food and he can’t eat their regular food right now, we’re separating them during meal times. We have them set up for 5 small meals per day, which is a very convenient with 3 automatic, timed, self feeder bowls most days. It is a little more inconvenient at the moment because I have to get up and make sure he eats out of the right one at midnight and very early in the morning. Hopefully this is a temporary situation, because I’d really rather not have to lock him in a room by himself at night.
So I’m tending to his needs which interrupts crafting time a bit, and we’re just rolling with it. That’s life!
