Spider top complete

I’ve been slowly going through some of my friend Sallie’s quilting and sewing things, and I’ve found a few projects that were unfinished. Some were blocks pieced, some were quilt tops put together but not quilted, and one was quilted but not yet bound.

Spider is one of the projects that had blocks that were pieced, a couple of which she had started sewing into rows. I’ve done this project before – for CC. I called his Replicator Racing, because it reminded me of the Replicators enemy in the tv series Stargate SG-1. I also realized as I was working on putting hers together that I didn’t align my blocks exactly according to the pattern.

She had 6 little red squares set aside, so I’m assuming that she had decided on a little pop of color in this otherwise mostly-grays quilt.

I also decided to piece the final border to maximize the solid gray, adding in some darker pops of one of the fabrics she’d included in all the supplies box. Now I just need to make the back (there are 2 more blocks that are just a smidge small, and I think I’ll put them there), and have it quilted. I’ll probably donate it as a charity quilt. It makes a perfect size and colors for a guy.

    1. I thought about that as well. I’ll ask if he is interested in it when it’s finished. He has all the quilts that Sallie made for him/them plus all the quilts that had been given to her over the years.
