Two big mistakes

My Derecho tee is in time-out. I thought I was almost done, but no!

First I should have tried it on as I went. The top part is fine, but the length is about two inches too long. I knit to the length the pattern said to knit, but I really forgot that I am short-waisted for my height. So many tops are “cropped” these days that I tend to need to add a little length. But this one is not one of those, and it covers my butt fully in the back. It isn’t a flattering look. So I’ll put in a lifeline needle and rip back to approximately two inches before the shaping/finishing of the hem.

Second, that longer sleeve on the right? Yeah, it’s not supposed to be that way. This top has cap sleeves, and it looks really cute that way. I just happened to be looking at my other pattern that I’m knitting – the Heartfelt cardigan – and started knitting from it for the sleeves. I’ve been knitting on both garments simultaneously, and was near the same part in each pattern when I decided to focus on Derecho and finish it off. Except that I didn’t pay attention to my pattern PDF. The stitch counts are very similar for the sleeves at the stitch pickup. So I’ll need to rip back on that and finish it off properly. I may, in fact, do that before I tackle the hem. But for the moment, it’s getting a little rest while I think about what I have done. Haha!
