Handwork success

Last night I finally got around to trying some more hand sewing. I had to make some more little baskets in order to try the hand sewing part, and I’ll need to work on that pattern a bit more because some of my basket blocks turned out a bit wonky. But the whole point was to see if I could appliqué the handle down by hand sewing it. Some things are possible with the magnifier and some are still beyond me.

I’m happy to report a successful, if slower, attempt! And I’m still using my 80 wt Aurifil thread in a color that is fairly close to the background fabric color. It doesn’t look bad at all!

The next time I make some blocks, I’ll take more care and time to ensure the baskets are the right size and that the handles are better centered. I may need to re-do a couple that I put together for my testing. Or maybe I’ll just let them be, and they’ll be little reminders of perseverance and progress.
