I’ve been making two sets of blocks for the mystery quilt, thinking that I’d be making two versions of that quilt, one with a light background, and one with a dark background.
I still plan to make the one with the dark background. However, as this is no longer a mystery quilt for a specific purpose, and the light version never had a designated recipient in mind, I’ve decided to make lap quilts out of the blocks I’ve been making for it.
So yesterday I put together two of three lap quilt tops. The first one is above. Here is the second one.
I made a few more of the blocks on the left and right side for this one, because I didn’t want to put just one tiny block on each side, and I like the repeating gradient.
The third set of blocks is on my design wall waiting for me to piece it all together. After I finish that, I’ll focus on putting the dark background version quilt together.
Oh, and my plan is to quilt these lap quilts on my Juki (probably early next year). I’m hoping that I’ll be able to quilt them and then donate to a local service organization for gifts to senior citizens. These should be great testing/practice pieces.
