Sometimes I think one set of fabrics will work together, and once I get them cut out and ready to sew, they just really don’t. That was the case with this block. When I saw the original fabrics laid out, the block just fell flat, so it was back to the drawing board.
For some reason, when I had the fabrics next to each other, the colors didn’t clash like they do in this photo (to my eyes). That brown with the hearts just doesn’t have enough red in it. And I thought the scale of the roses would contrast nicely against the smaller print they’re next to, but no. I may use them in a different block, or I’ll use them in a different project. I’m very happy with the second-try colors and prints.
