Bordered red blocks

With six blocks pieced and just one left to go, I wanted to see how my latest red block would look “finished.” I just couldn’t wait until the seventh is done. I have probably said it before, but I love how the black print sets off the block. The original model quilt used white instead of black, and that version is pretty. But I prefer the black, which wasn’t my idea. Credit for that goes to the person who created the beautiful batik version I saw in the Paper Pieces booth at a quilt show several years ago (circa 2012-2013) when the book was first released. They featured it on the cover of their print catalog for a time, but alas, I can’t find a photo of it to share.

Anyhoo… I couldn’t stop with just the one. I trimmed all of the red blocks I’ve pieced so far and sewed the borders on all of them. Now there really is just one more to go before assembly begins.
