I’ve had the fabric for the Turnabout Granny Square quilt for a while – I actually got both a jelly roll and a layer cake because I liked these flannels so much. They are Woolies Flannel by Bonnie Sullivan for Maywood Studio. This colorway is no longer in production, but as of the time of this blog post, there are a few other colorways that are just as pretty, if not prettier.
I managed to take a short break in between piecing all of those mini tri-recs and the half-square-triangle four patch units, and pulled out the jelly roll and got to work sewing the strips together. I still have to cut apart the rest of the units, but I cut apart and sewed together two sets of them to make these two blocks. There are twenty in the quilt.
You can watch the Missouri Star quilt tutorial on making this quilt. I know that the blocks end up with bias edges, but they are stabilized by straight grain sashing.
