I took yesterday off as a vacation day and spent some time working on the Scrap Crystals quilt. I might have gotten more done if I’d read the pattern instead of just glancing at it and making (incorrect) assumptions.
The first thing I noticed was that I had chosen the incorrect size squares to make the triangles on the sashing strips. At least I didn’t do too many of those before I realized it, and it was a really easy fix.
Then I realized that I was making the sashing 9-patch squares wrong too! I had totally reversed the order of colors and didn’t realize I should have been using the same blue fabric as was in the strips. I thought I was supposed to make them scrappier. Once I went back and checked the pattern, I realized where and why I’d made my mistakes and corrected them. Always learning!
