Home Retreat

Since I retired at the beginning of the year, it feels like I’m on a really long quilting retreat at home. I get up and exercise and stretch, eat and do my morning devotional, then attend to anything that needs my attention (getting everything in order is a longer process than you might think). And then I open up my quilting room and begin my “real” day.

I finally finished piecing all of my four patch units for Sand Castles, and now I can begin piecing the interior block units in earnest. Once I finished this one yesterday, I thought it looked like a miniature table runner.

Not long after finishing that one it was time for dinner. But I have another afternoon of piecing ahead, and I’m really enjoying feeling like I’m on “permanent” retreat. I’m sure I’ll do other things, but for now, doing just this, at my own pace, is bringing me joy.
