New poncho project

I got sucked into a new knitting project recently, and have been spending most of my knitting time on it (except when I’m knitting on charity hats). The stitch pattern is a fairly simple repeat, but does take a little concentration not to lose my place as I’m working through each pattern row.

The design is called Navette, and it uses a yarn that is new to me, both as a brand line (Berroco Spree) and fiber content (56% wool, 44% cotton). I thought it would make a nice spring/summer/autumn garment, with the blend being approximately a sport weight.

I chose color 9448 Denim, and it goes quite well with blue jeans. There are tiny hints of a spring yellow-green shade as well as a light lilac purple. This yarn is a bit darker than the one they used for the model. It also has a subtle striping effect.

I’m almost halfway through the first panel (the front and back are knit similarly before seaming together), and am quite enjoying the process.
