Quiltville retreat

I was a lucky substitute for someone who was unable to go to a retreat last week to Bonnie Hunter’s Quiltville Inn. We had a fabulous time, and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with several girls I know, and making new friends with the few that I hadn’t met before we went.

Bonnie has already blogged about it with photos, so I’ll link those here.

Here I am on the day we arrived. It was a beautiful drive – the weather was perfect, I drove with the windows down all the way, and I loved the route we took through the windy mountain roads. I told CC that he would have loved the drive too, with all that down- and up-shifting around curves and inclines (fun in a standard transmission on a day like that).

The first night many of us worked on string piecing sections for the borders.
The next day, Bonnie started her extended class, and we made string triangles.
Square in a square was next.
Then half-square triangles to add to the corners and complete the blocks.
Finally, there were smaller string pieced triangles for the sashing.

We got to see many of Bonnie’s quilts in person, which was a delight. Photos just don’t do them justice. I really want to do Tulip Time and several others now. Of course!

I didn’t really get much sleep while I was gone, so I’m paying for it now that I’m home. Definitely going to bed earlier, since I still have to get up for work. But I’m easing back into the routine. Actually looking forward to going grocery shopping soon, because I got the recipe for the sauce we had with spaghetti one evening for dinner. It was the best I’ve tasted, so I’m anxious to see if I can make it and if CC likes it.
