I found some more leftover units, and a by chance, as I was scrolling quilting groups on social media, I happened upon the Ohio Star block (I think that’s the name, anyway). And immediately, I knew that was what I needed to do with those units to add them into the quilt.

I had other leftovers from that particular quilt and from a few others that matched the colors needed to put them together. And I put them on the wall. Then I realized that some of the rows (which I’d pieced with directional fabric) were upside down if I kept the layout I originally had up there. So I rearranged and flipped.

As I began putting things together, I rearranged just a little bit more until I came to the final layout. I put a white strip (cut 1 1/2 inches, finishes at 1 inch wide) between each row and on the top and bottom. I decided to leave strips off the sides, and I plan to bind with a scrappy binding.

And I pulled this fabric out for backing. I’m pretty sure now that it isn’t 100% cotton, but it’s so pretty and feels so nice, I pieced it up and it’s now ready to go to the quilter.

You are so right; that backing fabric is lovely!
