I had a lot of block and unit leftovers sitting in a box. In a fit of organizing and getting rid of some more things to make room so I can get around and actually work on projects in my sewing room, I decided either they go into a quilt or they go out of the house.
What you see is what I’ve done so far. They are not all the same width, so there will likely be some trimming of edges once I decide on final placement and other unit rows to put in between some of these. I want to get this one finished pretty quickly so I can get back to all my other projects. The good news is that it freed up a project box.
It’s nearing the end of the year, and I have really been feeling this need to get the old out (what I can at this point, anyway), so I can get on with the new in the upcoming year. I have several ideas percolating based on some other leftovers, some scrap and cut fabrics I’ve received from other quilters, and my own stash which needs to be utilized.
Monkey Wrench from Chilhowie leftovers: I have sets of half square triangles that were not used when I changed the pattern, and I want to make a Monkey Wrench quilt from those. I just need to decide on the coordinating colors and make the blocks.
Taffy (pattern by Moda): a quilting friend gifted me a stack of already cut pieces using the half hexagon template, and I need to check to make sure I have enough cut already, but I think this will be the perfect quilt for those.
Double Four-Patch: this is a pattern I drafted for a friend based on a photo of a quilt. I’d like to use some more of my homespun plaids and cotton background prints. I’ve really loved the other quilts I’ve made where I mixed the two types of cotton fabrics, and I think this is a good pattern to try and use up several more of the fat quarters in stash.
