The other day my mom called and said she’d been looking unsuccessfully for a chocolate brown cardigan. That color is just not “in” at the moment, it seems. She found a hand-knit one for sale online, but then she thought perhaps I might make one for her instead, and she’d be (fairly) sure it would fit that way.
When your mom asks you to make her a cardigan, you absolutely say YES! I asked her – dark chocolate or milk chocolate in color? Dark! So I found some Cascade Heritage online in the color Bark.

However… my issue at the moment is that my row gauge is way off (it’s much shorter than it should be – I have far more stitches per inch) with the needles that are recommended. That is unusual now that I’ve changed to a combination method where I purl Eastern or “backwards”. I’ve decided to knit another gauge swatch (and possibly another one after that) in a larger needle. I know that superwash yarn tends to grow after washing, but also that putting it in the dryer helps it bounce back. So I need to do a little more knitting, a little washing and drying, and try to see if I can figure out how to knit this thing so it fits Mom right.
