Rip Current Mitts

Started on January 26, 2025 and finished the next evening, my new pair of fingerless mitts is ready for the rest of this winter. Here’s hoping I won’t have to rely on them too much.

They remind me of our little tortie Leia. I think Leia’s seen enough of the cold and snow (though she never goes outside).

These mitts were knit with leftover yarn from Darn Yarn MN. I don’t believe she is dyeing any longer. I originally knit a hat for my friend Sallie with the yarn, and thought the color was perfect for the Owls hat pattern.

I made my first pair of Rip Current Mitts in 2015, and still love them. The colorway of those was Monet’s Garden, I believe. They were hand-dyed The Cyborg’s Craft Room whose yarns were beautiful (she passed away several years ago).

After those, I knit a few more pairs of mitts in this pattern for friends and family, and really forgot just how nice it is. The length is a little longer than a different pair of mitts that I knit for myself, so they are a little warmer while still allowing fingertips to touch all the touch-screens and things.
