Leftovers

I pulled out a box of leftover blocks and unit pieces last month (yeah, October just disappeared like the snap of fingers!) and threw some of them up on the wall in no particular order. I’m going to do something with these, I’m just not sure what.

When I was able to get into the sewing room, I would put some pieces together. So now I have more on the wall, but they’re still in no particular order.

Some of these are from Bonnie Hunter quilts or her yearly mysteries, some are from classes or my own mystery quilts and extras from my brother’s log cabin quilt. A couple are from donations that I’ve gotten when scraps were given to me.

And then there were all the scraps from Frolic, which I made as the full-size quilt, and didn’t alter. I must have just cut far too many pieces because I had a lot of leftovers, but none were enough to make a complete block from that quilt (maybe they were meant to be the extra half blocks to choose from on the outside?).

I just started putting them together into block layouts that had nothing to do with the original quilt layout. Eventually I had nine! And this is about 28.5″ square currently. I might add a little border and call it a baby quilt. No, it’s not in traditional baby colors, but who’s to say that someone won’t love the bright, funky colors for a play mat?
