Hello July, goodbye July

And I looked up and the month was nearly gone – already. The time is flying by this summer (well, really, this year!).

I decided a few weeks ago to make a quilt of valor for a gentleman at our church who has become near and dear to me. He and his wife are such a delight, and visiting with them always brings a smile to my face.

I asked Jean if Jim had ever been given a quilt of valor, and she told me that he hadn’t. She hadn’t ever heard of the program. Jim is a former Marine who was in Vietnam. And I just knew I was meant to make him a quilt of valor.

So these are my blue blocks. I’ve been working on them off and on during July. Now I’ll be making the red blocks and hopefully I’ll put everything together over the next month. I’d really like to get this made and quilted quickly for the next Quilt of Valor presentation.
