New Look N6719

A friend who was recently downsizing gave me some of her unused fabric, some of which was more suited to clothing than to quilting.

Coincidentally, I had recently purchased some sewing patterns on clearance, including a top that I saw someone else had recently finished in a Facebook sewing group I’ve joined.

There was just enough fabric to make the bodice of view B, so I went ahead and cut it out. I pondered over the “skirt” fabric for a while, and thought about using a Tula Pink fabric, but I didn’t really have enough of any of the prints that really jumped out at me, so I went with a light colored fabric I recently acquired at another “clearance” type sale at a local quilt shop. It has dragonflies and ginkgo leaves on it.

The top came out great, though it wasn’t the easiest pattern to read and understand. Are all patterns like that nowadays? Do they assume you just know what they mean? I don’t remember my first sewing pattern in 8th grade (granted, it was a different pattern brand, Simplicity) being this difficult to understand.

Anyway, I have a new summer top, hooray!
