Repeating old patterns

Immediately after finishing the Snow Forest socks, I wanted to cast on another pair with the Knit Picks Stroll Tweed yarn and knit a pattern I’ve made before. I’ve decided to use the Atlantis Heather colorway again (as heels, cuffs, and toes) along with the Persimmon Heather colorway (that I used in the first pair of CC’s socks as heels, cuffs, and toes) as the main sock color.

I had knit the original pair of socks using Koigu KPPPM (100% merino wool, no nylon) and the Retro Rib pattern from the book Favorite Socks by Interweave Press. It’s no wonder they aren’t really standing up to foot wear and washing. I had bought the yarn before I knew much about what was best for socks, and they really were pretty. I don’t know what the color name was, but I’d affectionately call it Pond Scum (after a beautiful silk thread colorway name I used to cross stitch in several Chatelaine patterns).

Original pair of Retro Rib socks, finished in 2008

Yes, I finished these socks in 2008, but I’ve barely worn them because I’ve had to darn them in a couple of places already, and the heels and toes are almost worn through again in several places. They’ve also felted somewhat.

Poor mended socks in need of additional mending
