Sewing four-patches

The snow we’ve had this week has been the perfect complement to making the billion four-patches I need for my Sand Castles quilt.

I gathered all of the ones I’d previously made and hid in my scrap bin, then I began sorting out some of the newer neutrals I’ve just been throwing into the bin willy-nilly.

Every time I’d dig down a little deeper, I found a few more. These are from my time with Lady Tulip.

And digging down a little further, I’ve almost got them all gathered together now (the bags below them were already sorted into color families). That’s a lot of scraps added since I did the initial color sorting a couple of years ago. Obviously I haven’t been keeping up with keeping everything organized.

I have a half-billion (okay, not really, but I do have about half) of my needed four-patches sewn together now. I’m looking forward to having those all done so I can work on cutting out and piecing the main color block sections.
