I ran out of steam. I mean, really ran out of steam on this project. I had originally intended it for a certain purpose. Plans changed, and I had already purchased fabric for two versions, so I decided to forge ahead.
But then the vision problems happened, and I still tried to continue. Midway through that I decided to continue on with only one colorway, and did something completely different with the other colorway blocks I had already pieced. Trying to make lemonade out of lemons? Sort of.
The only reason I continue to work on this version is because my husband really liked it, and the quilt is intended for him. But working with all that black, ugh! Even with my visual aids, it was extremely difficult matching them to piece together. And near the end, I was just ready to have this thing finished. This one is definitely a product wanted vs. process (not) enjoyed at the end.
I’m going to have Margie quilt it for me (was originally going to quilt it myself, but no way José now). I pieced together some flannel backing I had gotten for it, and it’s ready to be handed off for a while. I’ll decide how to bind it when I get it back. For now I’m ready to put away the extra fabrics and piece together some lighter/brighter things.
