Again, I made two identical blocks. I’m making a light background and a dark background quilt, so I ended up with four of this block, 2 light and 2 dark.
Pieces needed for a single block 11 (double for making 2):
- 6-2″ background squares
- 6-2″ medium squares
- 3-3 7/8″ background squares, cut in half on the diagonal
- 2-3 7/8″ dark (light if making dark version) squares, cut in half on the diagonal
- 1-3 7/8″ medium squares, cut in half on the diagonal
Make 6 half square triangles, 4 using the background fabric with the dark, and 2 with the medium fabric.
Piece one medium 2″ square to one background square (6 times). Once you have 6 sets, flip 3 of them so the are the reverse of the other three, and piece them in little four-patches.
Arrange your units like the following photo, making sure that you have the four matching half square triangles in the middle of each outer row, and so that the background of the four-patches forms a diagonal line. Piece as you would a nine-patch block.
