Binding, finally

It’s a good thing I had the day off yesterday. I needed nearly the entire day to bind and then recover from binding my Over the Rainbow quilt.

This quilt is possibly the largest one I’ve made, and it’s definitely the heaviest, so extra support was necessary. I brought in one of the tray tables and set it up to help hold some of the weight (even though I have an extra long table to the left of my machine).

And more often than not, I now use quilting gloves to help me steady and move the weight of the quilt along as the feed dogs pull it through the machine. There was constant fluffing and repositioning every few inches. So it took quite a long while.

And once it was finally finished, I carried it out to the living room, and just gave up trying to smooth it all out to get a photo of the entire thing. Shadow seemed to not to mind that it was all rumpled on the floor.

And then Leia decided to join in the fun. She had been (impatiently) waiting for me to finish sewing down the binding for quite a bit. I kept having to move her as well while I was moving the quilt and sewing.

I’ll probably have to wait until the first Thursday evening of October to get a decent photo. This is one that CC will not be able to hold up on our back porch to take a photo. I swear it must weigh about 50 pounds!
