I was scrolling through my social media feeds, which as anyone knows can be very dangerous for the pocketbook, looking for some advice on wool appliqué with fusible web to share with a friend. I stumbled upon someone’s completed version of this “Pretty Little Pots” quilt by Wendy Williams, and was immediately taken with the design. It combines wool felt appliqué and embroidery for each of the flowers, along with needleturn appliqué for the flower pots.
Well, you know me – I can’t resist designs such as these, especially when they combine techniques. I bought the digital pattern(s). It was originally a block of the week, so there are 52 flowers/pots designs. I do so enjoy working on wool felt appliqué projects, and even though I also have another one that I’m going to be re-starting (Hop To It by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts), I am looking forward to starting this one – choosing each flower pot fabric and coordinating the wool and perle cotton (and maybe even adding in some beads occasionally).
Go check out the link to the pattern to see individual flower pots. I see that she used a bunch of Kaffe Fassett fabric prints. I have a few, and will probably use some of them, but I’m also looking forward to dipping into some of my other fun, funky (or even demure) fabrics.
