Brown and red arrowheads

The print that was used in another skirt fabric in this block is the lightest neutral/beige print. It was also purchased to be used as a muslin. And when I made it, I loved it. In fact, it was the first skirt I lined, and I wear that one a lot.

The browns are from a mystery quilt top that I made in 2019 at a quilt group Sit and Sew. I still need to quilt that oneā€¦

Now the thing to know about this block is that I didn’t start out using the browns. I started out using the red fabric. Normally I try to keep the same two fabrics in the whole block, but for some reason (I was tired?), I kept cutting the red pieces wrong. And by the time I finally had enough cut correctly (or so I thought), I had cut the wrong “set” and didn’t have enough to cut out the opposite set.

I like it though. And Aunt Beulah didn’t always have enough of a single fabric to make her blocks either.

The second block I made on this day is didn’t use any skirt fabrics, just fabrics from my scrap bin again. The reds are actually a dark burgundy and black check from Amy Beth’s Drunkard’s Path quilt that complements the floral print colors of the other fabric (backing fabric of my mother’s Double Wedding Ring quilt) pretty well.
