About that Grandpa’s Star

As I was talking about the Omigosh! quilt yesterday, I realized that I had never posted a photo of that one Grandpa’s Star block that I had made. I meant to, because I uploaded a photo. But then I got distracted, and never shared it.

This block is from Bonnie Hunter’s Addicted to Scraps column in the March/April 2012 issue of Quiltmaker magazine. The difference is that her block finishes at 7 inches, but mine will finish at 4½ inches. One small block, made up of 4 very small units, made up of tiny half square triangles.

Why this quilt? Because I recently “inherited” a box of 1½-inch half square triangles that were probably bonus triangles from a friend whose mother who passed away several years ago. She was going to throw them away because she doesn’t like to work with pieces/units as small as this. The thought of throwing them away just felt wrong to me, lol. So now they’re mine, and I’ll be making more to add in with them.
