I got to work a little on the Tula Pink Peaks and Valleys quilt blocks this weekend, and finished three of the colorways (out of 18 total).
I did two blocks of the pinks above using the Bees Knees design (Sunset colorway) from the Birds and the Bees collection of 2012.
Then I worked on one full and two half blocks using Sprout (Blush colorway) from the Moon Shine collection of 2014.
Then I made one additional block of the first one I made a year ago using the Sea Bloom (Glow Fish colorway) fabric from the Zuma collection of 2018. And I went ahead and sewed one of those blocks to the half block, just to see how it’s going to look.
These blocks have so many bias seams. And some of the units are slightly undersized, since I didn’t do a really scant quarter inch seam on the squares I sewed around in the last post. To get them to their correct sizing, I have to do a little fudging, but fortunately it’s not too much. And I’m learning as I go to be a little more scant when sewing the pieces together, so it isn’t too noticeable. So far my points are fairly pointy, so that’s a positive! I should focus on these to get into a rhythm (and to remember all the little details about that scant quarter inch and how I’m trying to trim and press everything).
