Just not feeling it

When I saw the reveal this morning, I had a sinking feeling. Previously, when I had put my blocks side by side, I just wasn’t happy with how they were ‘meshing’ together. Forsome reason, I thought we were going to do something with the flying geese we made previously in the center of the quilt. Alas, they are to be part of the border.

I do like both of the blocks. I just don’t like them together. And I really do not like them with the aqua. And not just my shade of aqua. None of the aquas are really doing it for me. In fact, I’ve mocked up the quilt in my quilt software, and I’m not really loving any other color sashing there either. And to top it all off, I really think these blocks look prettier set straight and not on point at the moment.

Sigh.

Well, that’s just how things go sometimes.

I think I’m going to set this one aside for now, and let it marinate. I may end up making two separate quilts with different alternating blocks, or perhaps similar blocks but different colors. The difference in value of the two blocks vibrates too much for me. So eventually, I’ll go back to the drawing board and do my own thing.

  1. Make it to suit you! (I agree…do not like the aqua background or the blocks on point.) So, can you make sashing with flying geese?

    1. I saw someone else had mocked up something using the flying geese around her block, but when I put it up on my design wall, it just didn’t work (she was using wildly different, but really striking, colors).
