Wanting to demonstrate how helpful this app is without sharing the pattern (because of copyright), I’ve snipped out just a tiny portion of the way I’m using KnitCompanion for another one of my cross stitch charts – the Winter’s Glow project that I recently found.
I hadn’t stitched a lot of it before I “lost” it amongst other projects, so I took the time to scan in the chart in order to make a working copy for myself, then highlighted the symbols I had already stitched in blue.
What is super cool about this app (in addition to being able to stitch together pieces of the chart, if needed) is the ability to highlight not only what you’ve stitched manually, like I did with the blue. But then you can create a “magic” marker that will highlight most, if not all, of the stitches of a certain symbol automatically. I chose to do that with a yellow shade. With a black and white chart (which is obviously smaller than my screenshot snip), sometimes it’s easy to get lost and have to hunt for a particular symbol. This can make it so much easier and speed up the process.
Then, I used my “stitched” manual marker again to mark the new ones I stitched. Now, it does take a little bit of time to do that step, since you have to do it one stitch at a time, so I might not continue to do that. But that is the green color highlight, since it is a combination of the blue and yellow.
Yep, I’m very happy with this app.
