I finally finished knitting the panels of My Flock of Sheep skirt, and seamed them together. Then I bound it off, loosely, or so I thought. Well, it wasn’t as loosely or as stretchy a bind-off as I needed it to be, so I spend another day putting it back on the needles and re-binding it off.
I found a great comparison of stretchy bind offs, and discovered that the one I thought was pretty stretchy (which I’ve used on other projects), Lori’s Twisty Bind-Off was only 13th on the list. So I went down the list and decided to use the stretchiest bind-off listed, the Yarnover Bind-Off. I’m not concerned with the flare, because the skirt waistband will have elastic running through it and will be hidden under a blouse at all times. I do not plan to ever tuck in a shirt with this skirt.
Now I’m weaving in the (what seems like) millions of ends. I still need to buy the elastic and put it in, but I’m much closer to having my skirt finished. The best part is that it will actually fit! I was really afraid it wouldn’t, since I originally started it when I was a smaller size. I had gained a lot of weight over the last couple of years, but since the beginning of this year, I’ve been working to get some of that back off. I don’t think I’ll ever again be the size I was when I started the skirt, but I feel much healthier now, and that’s what matters. That, and that my skirt will fit, ha!
