This weekend I finally feel like I’ve accomplished something. I started out by basting around the outside edge of the quilt, then began quilting the border, which was the last part that I needed to quilt. I finally decided on a slightly larger stippling than I had done in the blocks.
After that, I trimmed the quilt and measured for my binding. I didn’t think I had enough of a single color of a gray until I found a lighter one yard in a bin of white/off-white and cream neutrals (why I decided to put it there I’ll never know).
I made my binding and finished attaching it just after dinnertime, so it was a very rewarding day.
If I hadn’t mentioned previously, I used CC’s choice of backing fabrics – a woven plaid. That will make it nice and “floppy,” just the way he likes it.
I look forward to taking the quilt to share at a couple of quilt groups. Then I’ll wash it, and he can begin using it.
Of course, he’s already asking about his next “black and gray and white quilt.” Men and black!
