Starting fresh

Well, it has been a few years since I stopped blogging, and I decided to start fresh. So much has changed in my (relatively) short absence. I haven’t really been absent from the online world. I’ve still posted some photos on my Instagram and Facebook accounts. Those photos don’t tell the stories though. So that’s what I’m back to do – share the stories that you don’t get in little snippets on social media.

My niece works in a medical office, so my mom and I made some fabric face masks (as everyone who can sew seems to be doing) to help protect her, family, friends, and others.

Since most of the stores are closed (and I have a nice stash of fabric and shouldn’t be shopping for more anyway), I pulled out a package of 10-inch squares that I bought just because I thought they were pretty (“Fresh Cut” by Basic Grey for Moda). I hadn’t figured out what to make with them yet, and I thought they would brighten the wearer’s day just a bit.

I also made a few more, and honestly, it was making the fabric ties that took the longest – there are 4 for one mask that are 16-18 inches long each. The one pictured was made for a friend out of the same fabric I used as backing for her quilt. I couldn’t resist, and was really glad I still had enough to use for that when she requested one.
